This small Russian lacquer box captures a charming village scene, painted in the traditional miniature style. Under a soft evening sky, a young man plays the accordion while two women in colorful shawls listen attentively, suggesting a moment of folk courtship or celebration. The background features gentle hills, rustic cottages, and a glowing moon, adding warmth and romance to the setting. The box is crafted with a glossy black finish, typical of Russian lacquer work, and serves as a delicate tribute to rural life and music in old Russia. The box is neither dated nor signed, but it does have the word Fedoskino written under the lid, one of the four major villages that do this art form. We are guessing it is from the early 1990s and the lacquer has thinned just a little, but there are significant cracks of flaws, and is a sign of quality workmanship.
